Update!  Our Washington Trip Was A Success!

Dear Group:

I wanted to put a brief note to everyone to let you know that The American Association For Hyperbaric Awareness went to Washington for meetings on April 26th, 27th, and 28th.  We were accompanied by credible hyperbaric doctors from major universities, hyperbaric technicians, free standing facility owner and an international hyperbaric expert.  We met with the National Institutues of Health, several congressmen involved with brain injury and the major meeting with White House personnel - Alan Gilbert - Special Assistant to President Bush for Health Care Issues and over Military and Veteran's Health Care Issues along with his assistant, Philo Hall.  Congressman Ralph Hall and his personal aide were present at this meeting, also.  We were very fortunate in the fact that we were able to meet with Alan Gilbert, himself and his aide, Philo Hall.

The meeting was very favorable and productive.  They were very interested in helping with the NIH Stroke Study that we are working on putting together and in assisting with another project that we asked their intervention on.  I was asked to make a second contact phone meeting several days later -- which I did -- and with Alan Gilbert's assistance, we are now working on a major project with another group.  We have all gone into full speed ahead since returning home and have been busy putting these projects together.  We will inform you as to what AAHA is working on as we solidify some of these efforts.

Please be assured that we are daily working on your behalf to make Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy available to all who could possibly benefit from this treatment.  And, we are making headway in our efforts to bring a greater awareness of hbot to public officials, main stream doctors and the public in general.
AAHA officials and those who were with us in these Washington meetings came away very pleased with the outcome and the projects we are now working on because of our expanded contact base with elected public officials.

We explained to all we met with in Washington that AAHA is a NEW hyperbaric organization with many credible people involved with establishing it and we were welcomed in every meeting we attended and urged by the NIH, Congressmen, and White House personnel to continue on with our efforts in making this organization strong and a leader in this field.

We are now setting up a membership committee and Paulette Keeney will be heading that up.  The law firm has finalized the paperwork to be submitted for AAHA  non-profit status.
We are DEFINITELY moving forward and want to thank each and everyone of you for your interest and support of American Association For Hyperbaric Awareness.  We also want to thank IHMA for their meeting in Washington the week after AAHA was there and believe that both efforts will further the field of hbot.  We are here because of you and invite you to join us in bringing forth a greater awareness of brain injury and its treatment.

D.C. Here We Come!

"...in the next few weeks, executive members of the AAHA will be meeting with some powerful politicians in Washington, D.C. to prepare our next steps within Hyperbaric Medicine in the United States...."

"Our work in Washington, D.C. is nothing 'new'; rather, it is the continuation of a great work started many years ago when Drs. Edward Teller and Richard Neubauer went to Washington in 1993, for the purpose of addressing the issues of reimbursement for hyperbaric medicine. The primary object of our meeting in Washington is to again address hyperbaric medicine - this time regarding reimbursement for neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy, stroke and other brain injuries."

Please check upcoming newsletters for updates on our progress in Washington.

Welcome to the Birth of a Dream!

Ever since a fateful day in 1997, Allene Creacy has been determined to educate, inform, and recruit as many supporters of HBOT therapy for neurological injuries as she possibly could.  In her quest, she managed to meet and form alliances with a number of equally determined HBOT supporters, and thanks to all of them, we are proud to announce the birth of AAHA-USA.

Our organization is in the earliest of phases; there's a world of steps yet to take, a wealth of things left to do, but so far, the support has been phenomenal, and things are looking good.  Join us and support us as we grow; keep coming back and checking us for updates...there will plenty of them to share!

The Website is up!

We began on Saturday, March 27th, 2004, and as of this minute, things are progressing steadily.  There's a wealth of information that still needs to be added, a few more designs to get in here and there, but things are going along as planned.  Email us if you have any ideas or suggestions:

A Special Thank You

I started creating this site on Saturday, added a counter to the first page on Sunday, and am still busy getting the site in order.  The counter on the first page has been a great indicator of how many of you are visiting our new site, but it doesn't include the first day's visits, nor does it include the number of times our sites' other pages have been seen.

I just checked the website statistics, and was nearly floored to see that this site has had a total of almost 700 hits in this small time frame.  Thank you so much for visiting us, for taking the time to learn a little about our cause, and for leaving us feedback!
